switch FAQ section
how many switches should i get?
for 50% to 60%:
70 switches
for 65% to 75%:
80-90 switches, 90 will be a safer bet as some 75% have more than 80 keys.
for TKL (87 keys):
90 switches
for 96% to 100%:
110 switches
what is the difference between tactile and linear switches?
for tactile switches, they have a 'bump' when you press down on it, and linear switches do not have this.
it all boils down to preference! tactile switches give you feedback (something like typing on your phone with the vibration as you type on a key) and linear switches do not.
linear switches are also mostly quieter than tactile.
if you are unsure of what switches to choose from, feel free to try our switch tester packs!
can the switches fit on my keyboard?
*before anything, please make sure your keyboard is hot-swappable. i.e, the switches are removable.
most current switches have been upgraded to 5-pin switches, and most keyboards support this.
5-pin increases the stability of the switch, resulting in less ping and wobbly-ness, producing a more creamy/thocky typing experience.
if your keyboard only supports 3-pin, you may manually cut off the 2 plastic pins at the bottom of the 5-pin switches (DO NOT cut off the metal contact pins!!)
